Shreddies, gloop and pirates

A very good evening to you all 😊😊 It's been another full & busy week at preschool 🍰🎨🎤🎼 Piglets 🐷 are still learning ' Going on a Bear Hunt' 🐻The younger children have been going through the actions whilst the older children played bingo and snap matching the characters from the story. They have been using Shreddies to count out then match them to the numbers in cake cases...... with one or two being eaten on the way !! 🙊 There has been lots of Heuristic play. This encourages the children to learn, discover, understand, or solve problems by themselves by experimenting, evaluating possible answers or solutions, or by trial and error. The activity is very popular with the children and the staff are adding resources all the time. The children made Gloop by adding Cornflour & water together... the result is amazing !!! There was lots of great language used to describe how it felt 😊 Lambs 🐑 have been doing a variety of Maths board games. Working on counting, shapes and number recognition. They have also been working on their turn taking skills by playing lots of different games.... Pop up Pirate, Fishing game and matching card game. A popular activity was the building of the train track then using the remote controlled train 🚂 This encouraged the children to work together in completing the track and again taking it in turns and using their I.T skills to work it. There was a lovely sensory mark making activity where some beautiful works of art were made using scented crayons. Our cooking activity this week was fairy cakes 🎂🎂🎂 One of the festivals we are celebrating is Chinese New Year 🎉🎉 Piglets are turning their role play area in to a Chinese restaurant. If you have any resources... old Chinese calendars, menus, materials we would be very grateful if you could bring them in. Also we are collecting food packages with familiar print to make a display. If you could bring them in to Piglets that would be great!!
